When an editor gives you complete freedom in the visual design of a book series. For a designer, one of the biggest advantages of a letterpress print shop is that he has complete control of the creative process. The entire series is designed using objects found all around the print shop: lead letters, of course, but also brass lines, copper wire. In one case, we blind pressed the letters into the cover and then we hand-painted all the copies, one by one, with a roller.
